From the name, people think of Iceland as an island full of ice. But back in the days, the year of 984 when Leifur Eiríksson found Iceland, he named the island, Iceland so noone would move there and he had the hole county for him self. Clever hah?
Well im not surprised;)
Iceland is the most sparsely populated country in Europe with an average about three inhabitants per square km. Almost four-fifths of the country are uninhabited and mostly uninhabitable, the population being concentrated in a narrow coastal belt, valleys and the southwest corner of the country.
In July 2006 Iceland's population totalled 304.334 people of which around 190.000 lived in the capital, Reykjavik, and surrounding areas.
Iceland is a progressive modern European society with a high standard of living and a high level of technology and education.
Why should you visit Iceland?
#First, to come and see me. I can cook a shark head for you and we can drink dry vodka!
#A lot of people visit Iceland to see the Nortern lights. They are amazing!
#We have the Blue lagune, which is a natual hot spring.
- A lot of guys visit Iceland because people say the most beautiful womens are from ICELAND. Thats true tho! RIGHT?
- We have the best hot dog in the world! (yes, better than you Tina (Danmark))
And we have a little of everything and if you like outdoor sports or camping, Iceland is the right place;)
Iceland is a pretty new country but not that new tho. If you visit down town Reykjavík (the only sity in Iceland) you woun´t see these 50 floors buildings. Maybe 3,4 floors. But soon, downtown Reykjavik will be like other sities in the world. Witch is bad I think.
My grandpa witch is 62 years old grow up in a house like this until he was 16 years old. So Reykjavik has been growing pretty fast as you can see.
We have two malls. Kinda small, we have some kind of a good stores and brain you know and a one woman owns it all. All the most poppluar stores in Iceland!!
Iceland is VERY expensive, if you wanna buy a jeans you need to pay 400-500 bucks thank you!
I cant wait to get back home and smell Icelandic air, (fresh, cold, fish and salted sea).
Well I hope you have some kind of idea what my country looks like, I thought this would look more interresting than some basic information.
Thank you,
Ingunn Lára
